Community recipe book aims to help parents grow healthy happy children.
A new recipe book teeming with healthy recipes is now available to the community thanks to our smallest residents at St Albans Community Preschool (SACP).
The children are the inspiration for their preschool’s new recipe book which aims to help parents provide their children with a range of healthy foods essential for their wellbeing and development.
Co-creator of the recipe book and Nutritionist, Sara Evans, whose daughter attends SACP, said the overarching goal of the project was to help parents give their children the best start in life.
“Eating a range of good food is essential for children’s physical and mental growth. We want to provide parents with some easy recipes to help make that achievable.”
She said forming good eating habits in children now would hold them in good stead for the rest of their lives.
“Eating healthy food is a wise long term plan for the best health and wellbeing of your family. Spending a little extra time and money on good food now will reduce doctors visits and time off school and work in the future.”
The recipe book includes 40 pages of breakfast, lunch and treat recipes containing foods which are unprocessed, low in sugar, nutrient rich and allergy conscious. It provides extra notes at the bottom of the recipes for tips and tricks along with alternative ingredient options for common allergies.
“We’re all busy parents and most of us are aware of how important it is to give our children the right fuel in order to thrive but sometimes it just feels too hard. We hope this recipe book will alleviate some of that stress.”
The SACP recipe book is a fundraising initiative for the preschool and funds raised will be used to purchase educational resources and toys for the children. A printed copy is $20 (available below with $5 delivery within NZ of up to 4 recipe books) or an ebook version is available for only $10 also below.
